It is estimated that one in ten people will experience kidney stones at some point in their lifetime. Kidney stones are more common in men than women, and the risk of developing kidney stones increases with age. There are a number of different factors that can contribute to the development of kidney stones. One of the most common is dehydration. When the body is dehydrated, the urine becomes concentrated and can form crystals. Other risk factors include a family history of kidney stones, certain medical conditions.
